The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra School of Music (NOJOSOM) is a FREE Saturday and after-school music education initiative that provides small and large ensemble instruction in Jazz and Classical idioms.
In partnership with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO), small ensembles come together in a monthly large ensemble rehearsal facilitated by members of NOJO’s Big Band and artist-mentors from the LPO.
This large ensemble is called the Music for Life Honors Orchestra and is modeled after programs like Orchkids (Baltimore, MD) and Carnegie Hall’s Link Up program.
NOJOSOM also provides summer instruction through a partnership with the SANAA Music Workshop. If you are interested in your child joining NOJOSOM, please contact chair@thenojo.com.
