Stevie Wonder Jazz Fest After Dark Tribute This Sunday / Irvin Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra present "Living for the City: The Music of Stevie Wonder"

IRVIN MAYFIELD AND THE NEW ORLEANS JAZZ ORCHESTRA CREATE FESTIVAL SEASON FINALE WITH A TRIBUTE TO STEVIE WONDER AT HOUSE OF BLUES NEW ORLEANS.

After three packed weeks of festival performances, Irvin Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra will present “Living for the City: The Music of Stevie Wonder.”

NEW ORLEANS, La. (April 7, 2016) – Grammy Award-winning Irvin Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO) will conclude their April festival circuit with Living for the City: The Music of Stevie Wonder on Sunday, May 1st, at House of Blues New Orleans (225 Decatur Street).

Living for the City will be a homage to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival’s 2016 headliner, acclaimed Motown star, and 25-time Grammy Award winner. The performance will feature Wonder’s greatest hits, honored and reimagined through a tableau of original arrangements and adaptations for Jazz orchestra.

“We are excited to celebrating the greatest living songwriter with our renditions of his legendary music,” said NOJO Artistic Director Mayfield.

Tickets will be available for purchase starting Friday, April 8th, at 10:00 a.m. on ticketmaster.com and livenation.com.

About Irvin Mayfield:
Irvin Mayfield is a Grammy and Billboard Award-winning artist with 25 albums to his credit. Mayfield is the founding Artistic Director of the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra and currently serves as Jazz Artist in Residence for the Apollo Theater; he served as Artistic Director of Jazz for the Minnesota Orchestra from 2009-2015. In 2009, he entered into a historic partnership with the Royal Sonesta Hotel and created Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse, which brought “Jazz back to Bourbon Street’ in the historic French Quarter. Mayfield was nominated to the National Council on the Arts by President George W. Bush and was subsequently appointed to the post by President Barack Obama in 2010; he served through 2014.
